October 1, 2020 – National Fire Pup Day | National Hair Day

What Does Your Do Say About You?

Welcome to October 1, 2020 on the National Day Calendar. Today we celebrate being spotted and noticed for our “do.”

The Dalmation dog has a long history of being known as a fire pup.  This goes back to the early 1700s when fire trucks were actually horse drawn carriages.  The dogs were not only extremely agile they had a natural affinity with horses, and they were trained to run alongside the carriage. While other dogs are just as heroic, Dalmations have one more feature that makes them, well, easy to spot. On National Fire Pup Day we celebrate these canine wonders who continue to inspire fire safety and the boundless energy of their most famous job.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away… there was a woman with perfect hair. Think about it. Who has more recognizable locks in the whole universe than Princess Leia? We all have bad hair days, but somehow she did not. Dashing around from battle to battle, her hairstyles were always impeccable and iconic. As soon as you see someone with buns on either side of their head, you immediately know whose hair they’re emulating. And here on earth, there are lots more ways to get yourself noticed. On National Hair Day, you may not create a trend setting style for generations of adoring fans, but you can always try something new.
