May 4, 2020 – National Orange Juice Day | National Star Wars Day
Transcript for May 4th
Welcome to May 4th, 2020 as we bridge the social distance on the National Day Calendar. Today we celebrate sunrise and starry skies. More after the break from Anna Devere.
Few things are as refreshing in the morning as drinking a glass of orange juice. There’s a reason this “liquid sunshine” is America’s most popular breakfast beverage. And if a whole 8 oz glass of OJ is too much sugar for your system, celebrate National Orange Juice Day with a tablespoon or two in your favorite waffles or cereal and feel the sun’s rays lightening up your day from this inside.
It’s Summer, 1977 and people across America are sitting in darkened movie theaters, crunching away on popcorn and sipping their Cokes as the screen goes black. A short phrase appears on screen: “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…” And just like that—BOOM—people were hooked on the story of Luke Skywalker and his battle against the Empire. Star Wars and all its sequels have not only reshaped pop culture, but also moviemaking as a whole. On National Star Wars Day, celebrate with a film marathon or by dressing up as a Jedi, Droid or Wookie and whatever you do, “May the Fourth Be With You!”
