May 25, 2020 – Memorial Day | National Wine Day
Welcome to May 25th, 2020 as we bridge the social distance on the National Day Calendar. Today we celebrate life, liberty and the pursuit of vino. More after the break from Marlo Anderson.
Memorial Day honors the men and women who have died during military conflict and has been kept in various forms in the United States since the end of the Civil War. It was first observed on May 30, 1868 as Decoration Day with volunteers decorating the graves of some 20,000 Union and Confederate soldiers buried at Arlington National Cemetery alone. Across the country, humble tributes occurred and a laurel wreath was placed upon the head of a Lincoln statue at City Hall in Washington D.C. Today we pay tribute to those whose sacrifice affords us our freedom and we mark the beginning of Summer and our own celebration of life.
Hey Marlo, speaking of celebration, I hear you’ve tried all the wines? Is that true?
Marlo: Yep, I have tried both red and white.
You don’t have to be a connoisseur to enjoy celebrating National Wine Day, and while you may find it appealing to sniff, swish, gargle and spit fine wines at a fancy tasting, it’s completely appropriate to just drink the stuff too. Do you have a favorite wine, Marlo?
