May 24, 2020 – Brother’s Day | National Scavenger Hunt Day
Transcript for May 24th
Welcome to May 24th, 2020 as we bridge the social distance on the National Day Calendar. Today we celebrate putting a new twist on the things that drive us crazy. More after the break from Anna Devere.
A guy who teases you mercilessly one minute and then acts like your best friend the next is what we’d call a jerk…Unless they’re related to you, in which case we call them brothers. Today we celebrate the gents who tore up our comic book collections or poured an entire bottle of perfume on our mattresses. They also picked us up after we crashed our bikes and taught us how to throw a baseball. All in all, they’re not so bad, and we’re lucky to have them in our corner. On Brother’s Day, thank your brothers for being them and then remind them of the time they cut your pigtails off and that payback is still on its way…someday.
The kids have been home from school for over a month and you’re probably all going stir crazy. If you need something to keep them occupied while you suffer through your latest video conference call, try a scavenger hunt. Put together a list of odd items and send them on their way. If you’re feeling really ambitious, you can come up with riddles to describe the items the kids are looking for—it’s a real-life treasure hunt! Maybe there’s a prize at the end, but if nothing else, you’ll get some time to think straight today on National Scavenger Hunt Day. And maybe you can join the fun once Nancy from Accounting gets done asking questions on that endless conference call.
