May 20, 2020 – National Rescue Dog Day | National Be A Millionaire Day
Transcript for May 20th
Welcome to May 20th, 2020 as we bridge the social distance on the National Day Calendar. Today we celebrate underprivileged dogs and Marlo’s Millionaire moment. Join us both after the break.
Rescue dogs hold the potential of being far more than man’s best friend. For those in need of assistance, a well trained rescue dog can enable their independence. These canines have often overcome serious obstacles themselves, and with proper training, many become a reliable source of therapeutic comfort and companionship. Marlo, do you know how many shelter dogs are here in the US?
Marlo: I actually do know that—There are over 3 million dogs in shelters. Anna: That is exactly right. With so many dogs looking for homes, National Rescue Dog Day is the perfect opportunity to find a forever friend. Today is also National Be a Millionaire Day and Marlo, I’ll give you a million dollars if you can answer this question.
Marlo: Okay! Go ahead and ask.
Anna: If you stacked a million $1 bills, how tall would it be?
Marlo: Uh… I’m going to phone a friend.
Anna: Wait! You can’t… [phone rings, is answered by Chris (or John)]
Marlo: Hey Chris! I need your help answering a trivia question.
Chris: Is this the thing about the height of million bucks? I can’t help you, Marlo. I wrote the question and that’s cheating.
Marlo: I’ll split the prize with you.
Chris: 358 feet – about the height of a 35 story building!
