May 17, 2020 – National Cherry Cobbler Day | Take Your Parents to the Playground Day

Transcript for May 17th

Welcome to May 17th, 2020 as we bridge the social distance on the National Day Calendar.  Today we celebrate mixing things up, in the kitchen and on the playground.  More after the break from Anna Devere.

They say that necessity is the mother of invention and in the case of the cherry cobbler that “need” was for a pudding.  I’m talking about British settlers in the American colonies who were longing for a taste of home but couldn’t bake their traditional suet pudding with the rudimentary ovens and lack of ingredients found in the New World.  This episode of “Dessert Impossible” played out nicely when they stewed up some cherries and topped it with biscuit dough instead, and I don’t know about you Marlo, but I would celebrate National Cherry Cobbler Day over “suet pudding” day anytime!?

No contest there!  And if you are looking to mix things up, why not celebrate Take Your Parents to the Playground Day?  If you enjoyed the classic role reversal movie, “Freaky Friday”, where a parent and child switched roles for a day, you’ll love letting the kids take you to their place of “work” to remind you how exhausting it is to be them.  Make sure you pack extra juice boxes and goldfish crackers and maybe some pb&j because going to distance with your kids takes lots of extra energy.  And you might wanna hide those annoying kid leashes in case they get any bright ideas about really sticking it to you.
