June 8, 2020 – National Best Friends Day | National Name Your Poison Day

Transcript for June 8th

Welcome to June 8th, 2020 on the National Day Calendar.  Today we celebrate in our own special way with the people who’ve got our back.  More after the break from Anna Devere.

You’ve heard the expression “name your poison.”  It usually comes from the bartender and refers to the question of “What’ll you have?”  But did you ever stop and think that it’s not just about alcohol?  The expression comes from having to make a decision between options that are not necessarily good.  On National Name Your Poison Day choose wisely.  It’s good to have a friend by your side who can help you weigh all the options.

And thankful it’s National Best Friends Day, Anna.  By the way, you don’t have to choose between good or bad options, cause best friends make life better no matter what you get up to.

Anna: So how are you celebrating Best Friends Day, Marlo?

Marlo: Oh, probably golfing!

Anna: Hmmm, that sounds like poison to me.  My best friends like hanging out and we actually celebrated a friend’s birthday in her driveway in lawn chairs spaced 6 feet apart.  It was the first year I didn’t have to bake a cake too, because the birthday girl celebrated with gourmet popsicles.

Marlo: Gourmet popsicles?  Like what?

Anna: I had pineapple-lime with chili.

Marlo: Whew, sounds like poison to me.
