June 28, 2020 – National Paul Bunyan Day | National Insurance Awareness Day

Transcript for June 28th

Welcome to June 28th, 2020 on the National Day Calendar.  Today we celebrate tall tales and peace of mind.  More after the break from Anna Devere.

The lumberjack with the red plaid shirt and big blue ox first appeared in print in 1906.  But it wasn’t until a 1914 ad campaign for a logging company that the stories of Paul Bunyan’s legend really took off.  These tales of exaggeration still stand and it’s easy to see why.  Our imagination is fueled by the gentle giant who dragged his ax along behind him to carve the Grand Canyon and who wouldn’t believe that The Great Lakes were formed as watering holes for Babe the big blue ox.  On National Paul Bunyon Day find a statue of this legend in your own neck of the woods and celebrate the grandeur of our country that is still larger than life.

Timber!

Ouch. Well, this seems like as good a time as any to celebrate National Insurance Awareness Day. It’s something you think you’ll never need until there’s an accident. Then it’s all too apparent why we buy insurance to protect ourselves. Today is a great day to check your policies and review what your coverages are. It may sound tedious but you never know when a mythical giant lumberjack might be knocking over trees in your neighborhood!
