June 26th, 2020 – National Coconut Day | National Take Your Dog To Work Day

Transcript for June 26th Day

Welcome to June 26th, 2020 on the National Day Calendar.  Today we celebrate feeling like a nut and shaking things up at work.  More after the break from Marlo Anderson.

Sometimes referred to as The Tree of Life, the coconut has been used by many cultures for centuries in everything from cosmetics to biofuel.  The earliest plants were found in India in the first century AD and the name “coconut” comes from the Spanish and Portuguese word coco meaning skull or head.  Today this flavor is a hometown favorite in cream pies and custards, though people scratched their “coco” about how to import coconuts in the early 1800s.  Thankfully, the French cracked this code by drying the meat and the rest as they say is history!  On National Coconut Day celebrate a nut that’s got us covered from head to toe in tropical goodness.

If your work day was disrupted for the past few months, you’re not alone.  And no one enjoyed the shakeup more than our dogs: because their favorite person—You—was around 24-7. These lovable interns were happy to show You the benefit of including playtime, treats, and tummy rubs to your regular work routine. Now if you have to return to an office, your pooch is probably a bit down in the dumps, but today they’re in luck! On National Take Your Dog to Work Day you and your favorite companion can celebrate once again. Who knows—maybe they’ve learned to do your job and You can take a nap under the desk.
