June 13, 2020 – National Kitchen Klutzes of America Day | National Weed Your Garden Day
Transcript for June 13th
Welcome to June 13th, 2020 on the National Day Calendar. Today we celebrate klutzes and heroes around the house. More after the break from Anna Devere.
Does bad luck seem to follow you around the kitchen? You start out feeling like Bobby Flay or Rachel Ray only to feel like the biggest loser on an episode of “Nailed It”. It may not be Friday but the 13th of June celebrates this tendency towards failing forward with a nod to the clumsiest cooks. And what a great lesson for those of us with kids. Everyone has to start somewhere and laughing at yourself is a great way to take the pressure off. On National Kitchen Klutzes of America Day own your mistakes and proudly display your burnt cookies and pizzas. All great chefs know that the road to perfection is paved with many “hockey pucks.”
And you can always feel like a superstar by getting ahead in the garden. On National Weed Your Garden Day celebrate your ability to stop noxious weeds in their tracks. You can even teach your kids the tricks of the trade by watering first for easier pulling and laying down mulch to deter those pesky weeds before they even take hold in the first place. Gardening brings joy for the whole family and a great sense of satisfaction while getting outside for fresh air and sunshine. You may be a klutz in the kitchen but it doesn’t take much to be a crime stopping hero on National Weed Your Garden Day.
