July 28, 2020 – National Milk Chocolate Day | National Anti-Boredom Month
Can Your Favorite Flavor Beat Boredom in its Tracks?
Welcome to July 28th, 2020 on the National Day Calendar. Today we celebrate a few of our favorite things. More after the break from Anna Devere.
Most people credit the Mayans and Aztecs for bringing us drinking chocolate but today we celebrate this nectar of the gods in solid form on National Milk Chocolate Day. It was a Dutch Chemist who invented the process of separating cocoa butter from cacao in the early 1800s. But in 1875 when Daniel Peter mixed powdered milk with chocolate liquor, the milk chocolate lovers rejoiced! Chocolate is loved the world over and here in North America is no exception, with a whopping 71 percent of us preferring milk to dark chocolate! Companies such as Hersheys are definitely celebrating this fact today and so should you, with a drizzle or a bite of your favorite flavor.
This time last year we were celebrating water parks but with so many closed it seems like a good time to celebrate National Anti-Boredom Month. Most of us have gotten quite good at fending off boredom with loads of practice while social distancing. Tic-Tock is full of new found dance routines, and folks have taught their pets all kinds of silly tricks, but in case you’re running out of ideas, here are a few favorites we hope you’ll find useful:
- Make a music playlist and ask all your friends to contribute their favorite songs.
- Tackle that pile of family photos and organize them into albums.
- Take up a new hobby or learn a new language.
Anna: These all sound like work Marlo. I thought you were gonna suggest something fun like run through the sprinklers. That’s sort of like a water park.
