April 30, 2020 – National Bugs Bunny Day | National Oatmeal Cookie Day

Transcript for April 30th

Welcome to April 30th, 2020 as we bridge the social distance on the National Day Calendar.  Today we celebrate uncommon hares and permission to have dessert for breakfast. More after the break from Anna Devere.

What’s up, Doc? Today we celebrate one of the most famous cartoon characters ever—that wascally wabbit otherwise known as Bugs Bunny. Since his debut in the 1940’s cartoon “A Wild Hare”, Bugs has appeared in more films than any other animated character and even has his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Everyone knows and loves this wise-guy rabbit with the Brooklyn accent. Except of course for Daffy Duck and Elmer Fudd, who are undoubtedly off plotting some kind of revenge for being the butt of all his jokes. Cue up some Looney Tunes and grab some carrots with a side of sarcasm. It’s National Bugs Bunny Day!

Every group has its oddball, even cookies. People have fan clubs for chocolate chips and a special place in their heart for the snickerdoodle, but where’s the love for oatmeal cookies? Not many cookies can get away with being called “healthy” the way an oatmeal cookie can. Throw in some raisins and nuts and you’ve practically covered all the food groups!  On National Oatmeal Cookie Day why not celebrate by having dessert for breakfast?  After all, even your mom could get behind that idea.
